Frida inspires me as an artist because she was self taught and pushed through moments of suffering to find peace in her painting. She also placed plants, roots, and animals in her self portraits. The roots represent growth but also the negativity of being trapped. The trees represent hope. She used vibrant colors even while sad and suffering from health complications.
I can see myself in her and her inspiration in The Red Lady. This paining is a self portrait with vibrant colors although it is dark and sad. I use leaves to represent renewal, hope, and revival.
